Program Summary
Ayo Main is a program organized by PeaceGeneration Indonesia in collaboration with UNDP to conduct school-based interventions that adopt a whole-school approach.
Program Objectives
The Ayo Main program aims to build the resilience of all school stakeholders in preventing intolerance and violent extremism based on the principles of human security.
Program Background
Indonesia is a diverse country with various ethnicities, religions, cultures, and languages. Therefore, the long-term challenges of intolerance and violent extremism can impact various insecurities in society.
The government and civil society have tried to prevent these conditions by building resilient communities against various threats, including education. However, studies reveal that students still hold intolerant views, both towards followers of the same religion and followers of other faiths.
Additionally, differences are still rejected at the teacher level, with disagreements regarding the construction of places of worship and leaders from different religions.
