Highlight
Creatormuda Academy is a mission to activate young people to get involved in creating cool and positive content.
Program Overview
Creatormuda Academy is a collaborative program by PeaceGen, Maarif Institute, and Cameo Project, designed to empower young people to actively create positive content as a way to combat hoaxes.
Program Objectives
This program aims to fight misinformation and prevent the spread of intolerant, discriminatory, and hateful content by providing engaging and educational content that promotes positive values and benefits society.
Program Background
Indonesia continues to struggle with the spread of hoaxes related to social and cultural diversity. This issue arises due to a lack of understanding of the importance of empathy and tolerance.
One example is the experience of Annadya Fariza, a student and participant of Creatormuda Academy. She realized that she had unknowingly spread hoaxes about her classmates from different ethnic backgrounds. Through the program, she learned the significance of empathy and tolerance in combating misinformation.
Methods and Approach
As part of Project Inspire, initiated by Google.org Indonesia, Creatormuda Academy engages young people in creating and sharing positive content on the platform madingsekolah.id. The program runs for seven months across ten cities in Indonesia, challenging participants to produce impactful content accessible to a wide audience.
Program Outcomes
By the end of the program, participants like Fariza actively created content to counter hoaxes alongside their peers. These materials are available on madingsekolah.id. Additionally, Fariza developed a deeper understanding of the importance of empathy and tolerance in addressing misinformation.
Testimonial
"This program is truly amazing! Thank you for providing me with such valuable insights into the writing process, especially from Mr. Irfan Amalee. I now understand that practicing tolerance toward friends with different backgrounds must go hand in hand with empathy. I also realized how dangerous hoaxes can be. Looking back, I often unknowingly spread misinformation, particularly by making assumptions about classmates who were not from the Bugis ethnic group. This program opened my eyes to how wrong that was." — Fariza
