Program Summary

PeaceGeneration Indonesia, Maarif Institute, and Cameo Project collaborate on Creatormuda Academy, aiming to activate young people to create positive content to combat hoaxes.

Program Objectives

The Creatormuda Academy program aims to combat hoaxes and counter content related to intolerance, discrimination, and hatred by providing terrific and relevant educational content to promote values of goodness for the benefit of the public.

Program Background

Hoaxes about the diversity of society's backgrounds still haunted Indonesia. These hoaxes spread because many people do not understand the importance of empathy and tolerance.

For example, Annadya Fariza, a student and participant in the Creatormuda Academy program, admitted that she unknowingly spread hoaxes to her friends. This lack of awareness happened because she did not fully understand the importance of empathy and tolerance, which ultimately led Fariza to spread hoaxes by prejudging her friends with different ethnic backgrounds.

Thus, in line with the program's objectives, the Creatormuda Academy program was initiated to combat hoaxes and counter contents that spread various forms of intolerance, discrimination, and hatred towards the diversity of society's backgrounds.

Program Team

  • Taufik Nurhidayatullah (Project & Partnership Coordinator)

Program Timeline

The Creatormuda Academy program was conducted from March 14, 2019, to October 26, 2019.

Program Results

After completing the activities, Fariza, as a participant in the Creatormuda Academy program, actively created content to combat hoaxes with her group mates. Everyone can watch the content on the madingsekolah.id platform. Additionally, Fariza became more aware of the importance of empathy and tolerance when combating hoaxes.

"The program is truly amazing! Thank you very much for providing me with very insightful and useful knowledge about the writing stages from Mr. Irfan Amalee. I am very impressed with his lessons! Because I now know that tolerance towards different friends must be accompanied by learning empathy. Also, I just realized that fake news (hoaxes) are hazardous. Looking back, I often didn't realize that I had spread a lot of hoaxes, such as prejudices against my school friends who are not Bugis. This program made me realize that what I did to my school friends in the past was wrong," said Fariza.

Beneficiaries

In 2019, the Creatormuda Academy program benefited 1,293 high school students in 10 cities in Indonesia.

Conclusion

The Creatormuda Academy program strives to be a platform for young generations to combat hoaxes and counter content related to intolerance, discrimination, and hatred. So, those who want to become young creators like Fariza can contact us at [email protected]
