Sociopreneur Academy by HOPE trains 27 communities in the fields of peace and environment to create a wide-reaching impact.
Program Summary
Sociopreneur Academy by HOPE is a program from HOPE (House of Peace and Ecology) aimed at 27 communities in Bandung working in the fields of peace and the environment. This program provides learning opportunities for communities to help them grow and create a broader positive impact on society.
Program Objective
This program aims to assist communities and individuals in building networks and collaborating with other organizations. Through collaboration, communities can work together to create a wider and more sustainable impact on society.
Program Background
Ika Hernawan, the founder of the Kelas Tambahan community in Bandung, faced challenges in developing her community due to a lack of solid foundations. She shared that her community still faced issues with financial management, planning, and sustainability.
Based on the challenges faced by Ika and many other communities, PeaceGen designed the Sociopreneur Academy by HOPE program to help communities strengthen their structure and expand the social impact they generate.
Method and Approach
The program was conducted over three months online via Zoom, with a gamified approach in the form of an adventure journey. Participants received training on various aspects, such as:
-
Social enterprise management (sociopreneurship)
-
Creating a lean business canvas
-
Project and financial management
-
Community sustainability strategies.
-
To deepen their understanding, participants were also given assignments through the learning platform on the PeaceGen website.
At the end of the program, participants presented their community business proposals as a plan for independence and sustainability. Of the 10 communities following the scholarship track, the top three communities were selected as winners and received funding.
Program Results
-
This program successfully increased participants' understanding of how to write grant proposals, from an initial score of 5.09 to 8.28.
-
Participants' ability to manage projects also improved, from 5.3 to 7.47.
Testimonial
“Every workshop and mentoring session provided by Sociopreneur Academy by HOPE has been very helpful in the development of Kelas Tambahan. All the training throughout the journey was followed up with online assignments or one-on-one mentoring sessions. After this program, we hope that Kelas Tambahan will continue to grow and have the opportunity to collaborate with HOPE, Eco Camp, PeaceGen, and other participants.” – Ika Hernawan from Kelas Tambahan Community
