The ‘Aisyiyah Boarding School Bandung is Fostering a Happy Tanpa Bully (Happy Without Bully) Culture in Collaboration with PeaceGen Academy

PeaceGen.Id - In the boarding school environment, the frequency of interaction among female students is quite high. They not only share classrooms during school hours but also share dormitory life 24 hours a day, every day. Female students coming from various regions naturally bring diverse backgrounds, customs, and lifestyles. This is where the challenges of the boarding school environment begin: it is not only expected to be a place for seeking knowledge (academic and religious), but it must also be a safe space for every female student to grow up happily.

Recognizing this, the administration of ‘Aisyiyah Boarding School Bandung has taken proactive steps. Although cases of physical bullying have not been found within the ‘Aisyiyah Boarding School Bandung environment, the school views the importance of early mitigation against “seeds of bullying” that often go unnoticed. Symptoms such as the use of disrespectful language and the existence of seniority barriers.

As a concrete manifestation of this commitment, the administration of ‘Aisyiyah Boarding School Bandung partnered with PeaceGen Academy to present the “Happy Without Bullying” curriculum during an anti-bullying workshop titled “The Culture of Care: Guarding Our Words, Building Our Work.” This event was held on Friday, May 1, 2026, at the Siti Walidah Mosque at ‘Aisyiyah Boarding School Bandung.

Exploring 20 Signs of Bullying Using the ARKA Method

Through the topic “Happy Tanpa Bully,” PeaceGen Academy invites the female students to delve into material about how actions and words can have a profound impact on a person’s mental health. Using the interactive ARCA (Experience, Reflection, Conceptualization, Action) learning method, the female students were guided to recognize 20 seeds of bullying, understand their psychological impact, and identify the characteristics of bullying victims who need help.

This preventive initiative was warmly welcomed by Ms. Ayu Fauziah Lestari, S.Ag., Gr., a guidance counselor at ‘Aisyiyah Boarding School Bandung. She truly felt the positive impact of the approach brought by the PeaceGen Academy facilitator.

“Alhamdulillah, as a guidance counselor, I’ve been greatly assisted by PeaceGen Academy’s visit to our school. Today’s workshop was both enjoyable and insightful, it’s really opened my eyes. Moving forward, our school may continue collaborating with PeaceGen Academy to create a safe and child-friendly environment,” shared Ms. Ayu.

The teachers were also deeply moved by the students’ high level of enthusiasm. In fact, the reflection and discussion process was so engaging that the students briefly held back the facilitator team as they were about to leave, as there were still many stories and concerns they wanted to share.

A New Perspective from the Female Students’ Point of View

For the female students, this workshop opened their eyes to everyday habits that can actually be the root of bullying. Athaya Khansa Putri Ammar acknowledged one such habit. She had just realized that the culture of forming cliques or exclusive groups is one of the seeds of bullying.

“Up until now, I’ve mostly hung out in a group that just made me feel comfortable. It turns out, from the ‘Happy Tanpa Bully’ Interactive Talkshow with PeaceGen Academy, I’ve just realized that cliques are one of the seeds of bullying,” said Athaya.

Athaya also emphasized the importance of this education for everyone.

“Of course, I recommend that everyone, adults, teenagers, and children, must be aware of this. Without realizing it, we might have bullied others, which could have affected them. So whether you’re an adult, a teenager, or a child, you must know about bullying prevention.”

The need to break down seniority barriers was also emphasized by Athaya. According to her, open communication is the key.

“We really need to say hi to everyone, greet one another so we don’t feel too awkward. For example, communication between upperclassmen and underclassmen helps prevent misunderstandings or gossip.”

On the other hand, the engaging nature of the role-play method successfully sparked empathy among the female students, encouraging them to take action if they witness injustice right before their eyes. Qory Qur'ani Qurrota'aini, one of the participants, said she felt inspired to become an upstander.

“It was so much fun to act out the role-play and learn about the seeds of bullying. We got to understand the feelings of both the victim and the bully. We also realized we need to stand up for the victim! Now I know the types and characteristics of bullying. It’s important to learn these in our friendships. We might unknowingly become the bully or the victim. So, when joking around, don’t go too far and hurt someone’s feelings,” said Qory.

Sustainability and Concrete Action

Going beyond theory, this workshop concluded with a series of concrete actions. The highlight of the event was the appointment of “Agents of Peace” from each class, followed by the Grand Declaration. The entire school community recited the “Declaration of Compassion” together, and the event concluded with all students and teachers signing the declaration charter.

Through this collaboration, PeaceGen Academy hopes to continue contributing to the strengthening of a safe, comfortable, and child-friendly ecosystem in schools and Islamic boarding schools.
