Co-Founder of PeaceGen, Irfan Amali, Selected as a Nominee for the Harmony in Diversity Awards
For 19 years, Irfan Amali has accompanied PeaceGen to continue consistently bridging differences and building peace through creative media development, training, and digital campaigns. He founded PeaceGen together with Eric Lincoln in 2007 to respond to various interfaith conflicts in Indonesia, such as the conflict between Muslims and Christians in Ambon and Poso in 1998-2001. The 12 Basic Values of Peace module became the first step to ground peace into an everyday value in the world of education and community life.
Through the spirit of Irfan Amali, PeaceGen has provided impact to 154,000++ beneficiaries spread across the Southeast Asian region, the United States, and Tanzania. Including young people, educators, educational institutions, civil society organizations, government apparatus, and various other groups.
Together with PeaceGen, Irfan Amali is dedicated to continuing to create meaningful encounter spaces for individuals from various backgrounds and identities to strengthen social cohesion through: The Breaking Down the Wall program which has brought together more than 30 interfaith schools so that students experience the practice of tolerance directly. PeaceGen also facilitates collaboration space for 108 interfaith and intergenerational actors to respond to human rights and environmental issues.
PeaceGen teaches peace education with creative and interactive learning media, such as board games, comics, and posters that are easily accessible, fun, and relevant. In 2026, PeaceGen has collaborated with various government institutions and donor agencies both at national and international levels for various issues, such as FoRB, human rights, P/CVE, and digital security.
PeaceGen ensures every peace education effort has objective impact measurement. Through Boardgame for Peace, we found a decrease of 20.5% toward attitudes supporting violent extremism. Young people cultivate socio-emotional skills so they are not only personally resilient, but also become educators for their environment.
PeaceGen has also succeeded in spreading impact to Southeast Asia. Through the implementation of Breaking Down the Wall Malaysia which brings together schools across identities and races. This collaboration expands the peace education network and becomes an effort to strengthen inter-racial and interfaith tolerance in Malaysia from an early age.

These spirits of PeaceGen are reflected in the Harmony in Diversity Awards. As the Co-Founder of PeaceGen, Irfan Amali was selected as one of 10 nominations in the Harmony in Diversity Awards event organized by Temasek Foundation and 5P Global Movement. This appreciation becomes an encouragement for Irfan Amali and PeaceGen to continue building harmony and peace in the Southeast Asian region.
Thank you to the team, donors, partners, schools, communities, and Agents of Peace who have been part of Irfan Amali and PeaceGen's journey all this time. Let us continue to bridge differences and strengthen collaboration for a more peaceful future!
