Developing Peace Facilitators: Training of Facilitators (ToF) Peace Generation Aceh 2026
"Peace is not merely a slogan, but a lifelong process of building awareness, empathy, and the courage to understand one another."
Peace Generation Aceh has once again reaffirmed its commitment to building a culture of peace by organizing a Training of Facilitators (ToF) for the board members of the Peace Generation Indonesia Chapter in the Aceh region. Facilitated by Peace Generation Aceh, the event ran until May 17, 2026, featuring keynote speaker Avicenna Al Maududdy a Trainer for Peace Generation Indonesia as well as the Coordinator of Peace Generation Aceh alongside the Advisory Board of Peace Generation Aceh.
This training was not just a space to learn the technicalities of facilitation, but also a forum for deep reflection on how peace values can be lived out in daily life, within communities, and across broader social spheres. Through a reflective and analytical approach, participants were guided to comprehensively unpack the 12 Basic Values of Peace by Peace Generation Indonesia, which serve as the foundation for building an inclusive, humanistic, and civilized society.

During the dynamic discussions, participants did not just learn peace concepts theoretically; they also analyzed various social challenges arising in society today:
- Intolerance and prejudice
- Communication conflicts
- The crisis of empathy in the digital era
Through this lens, peace is understood not as the absence of conflict, but as the ability to manage differences wisely and with dignity.
The 12 Basic Values of Peace became a crucial turning point in shaping the character of young facilitators to become agents of social change. Values such as self-acceptance, eliminating prejudice, celebrating diversity, rejecting violence, and both asking for and granting forgiveness were understood as a process of collective consciousness-building. Each value was analyzed through real-life experiences, social approaches, and personal reflections, making the training feel alive and contextual.
This event also demonstrated that building peace requires intergenerational collaboration, the courage to engage in dialogue, and team cohesion. The simple togetherness forged during the ToF process became a symbol that peaceful spaces always begin with warm relationships, active listening, and mutual empowerment.
Through this initiative, Peace Generation Aceh hopes to birth young facilitators who are not only capable of delivering peace materials but also serve as role models in cultivating a culture of dialogue, tolerance, and humanity across Aceh and Indonesia.
"One heart for peace, one step for change, and one commitment to safeguard humanity."
Amidst the rapid flow of information and rising social polarization in the digital age, the presence of peace facilitators has become an essential need to maintain healthy, inclusive spaces for dialogue. Peace Generation Aceh believes that peace cannot be built through discourse alone; it must be manifested through real action, wise communication patterns, and exemplary social conduct.
This Training of Facilitator (ToF) serves as a momentum to strengthen the capacity of young cadres so they can become drivers of peace in their respective environments. Participants were trained not only to master the material but also to design participatory, humanistic delivery methods that resonate with people's lived experiences. This is vital because an effective approach to peace stems from the ability to listen, understand contexts, and build empathy for others.
In a warm and familial discussion atmosphere, participants were also invited to reflect on the social reality of Aceh today. Post-conflict peace is not merely a historical legacy, but a generational mandate that must be continuously safeguarded through education, dialogue across differences, and the strengthening of humanitarian values. Therefore, the 12 Basic Values of Peace are practiced consistently as a way of life, rather than just training material.
This event proved that the process of learning peace can grow from the simplest spaces: over a cup of coffee, through honest conversations, by listening without judgment, and having the courage to accept differences as a collective strength. From these small spaces, a grand spirit is born to build a more peaceful, inclusive, and mutually respectful society.
Peace Generation Aceh believes that social change always begins with individuals who are willing to learn and grow together. Thus, peace facilitators are not just teachers of values, but guardians of hope who ignite the spirit of brotherhood in society.

"Meuadab bak haba, meuhormat bak beda, ngon meuturi bak damai." "Be civilized in speech, respectful in differences, and grow in peace."
May the small steps initiated through this Training of Facilitators (ToF) become part of a long-term endeavor to nurture a younger generation in Aceh that is more open, wise, and capable of serving as a bridge of peace for the future of Indonesia.
