Rumah Damai

Ruang Damai invites PeaceGeneration Indonesia to realize community harmony in living a more prosperous life and to achieve positive peace in the LAPAS. In this activity, PeaceGen provides the 12 Basic Peace Values training service to realize the big dream of peace.

Why Does Ruang Damai Collaborate with PeaceGeneration Indonesia?

The COVID-19 pandemic, which occurred in March 2020, has impacted all community activities, including individual attitudes and actions regarding the meaning of peace.

Currently, the word peace is no longer limited to the absence of war but has developed into the realm of the environment and the quality of community life. As Johan Galtung, a Norwegian sociologist and the founder of peace studies, stated, efforts to realize community harmony for a more prosperous life are also efforts to achieve positive peace.

Therefore, Ruang Damai has a noble intention to bring humanitarian values to LAPAS as one of the efforts to realize the big dream of positive peace. In commemoration of World Peace Day, Ruang Damai held a workshop within the LAPAS titled "Instilling Peace Values as Preventive Efforts in Handling Conflicts and Religious Moderation in LPKA DKI Jakarta."

Through this workshop, Ruang Damai collaborates with PeaceGeneration Indonesia to provide the Andikpas with new knowledge about peace through the 12 Basic Peace Values Training.

What Is the Impact of the Collaboration between Ruang Damai and PeaceGeneration Indonesia?

Ruang Damai and PeaceGeneration Indonesia have provided training using the 12 Basic Peace Values module to 77 Andikpas who are currently undergoing coaching at LPKA DKI Jakarta. These Andikpas come from various socio-economic backgrounds and diverse legal cases ranging from theft, narcotics, and abuse to murder.

Through this activity, the Andikpas learn about peace values in daily life (ethnic/tribal diversity, groups/gangs, understanding diversity, and understanding conflict), and the benefits of applying peace values in daily life.

This training has left a positive impression on these children. They are happy to have learned new things in the 12 Basic Peace Values module, especially the material on self-love.
