About the Project

Hebat Facilitation collaborated with PeaceGen to address three major challenges in Indonesia's education system: bullying, sexual harassment, and intolerance. Through this collaboration, PeaceGen provided training through the 12 Basic Values of Peace, Guru Abad 21 (21st Century Teacher), and Happy Tanpa Bully (Happy Without Bullying) programs.

Goal

The goal of this collaboration is to equip educators, especially school principals and vice principals, with the understanding and skills needed to implement peace culture education. By adopting this approach, the aim is to create a more inclusive, safe, and conducive educational environment for all students.

Background of the Collaboration

The Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology has identified three major issues within Indonesia's education system: bullying, sexual harassment, and intolerance. To address these challenges, a peace culture education approach is needed to foster mutual understanding, tolerance, and friendship, regardless of race or religion.

Hebat Facilitation, an organization focused on teacher and educational staff development, partnered with PeaceGen due to its experience in peace-based training. In the implementation, this program also collaborated with P4 East Jakarta to equip vice principals with the skills necessary to instill peace culture education in students.

Method and Approach

PeaceGen contributed to this program by providing various forms of training, including:

• Educating on peace culture education as a prevention method for bullying through the 12 Basic Values of Peace.

• Equipping vice principals of senior high and vocational schools with skills to apply peace culture education at schools through the Guru Abad 21 program.

• Teaching strategies for creating a safe and comfortable school environment and preventing bullying through the Happy Tanpa Bully training.

• Guiding participants in creating peace culture education designs that can be implemented in various school activities, both curricular and extracurricular.

• Providing practice sessions and presentations where participants create and present action plans for implementing peace culture education in their respective schools.

Impact and Results

The collaboration between Hebat Facilitation and PeaceGen has resulted in tangible impacts within the education sector. This program successfully:

• Trained over 230 school principals and vice principals from North Jakarta, covering all levels from elementary to high school.

• Increased participants' understanding of peace culture education and the importance of bullying prevention in schools.

• Assisted several principals and vice principals in implementing the 21st Century Teacher curriculum as part of their teaching strategies.

• Encouraged participants to develop and implement action plans for creating more inclusive and safer schools for students.
