About the Project

Bandung Institute Technology ( we called it ITB) in collaboration with Tanoto Foundation partnered with PeaceGen to deliver the Self Love and Conflict Makes It Epic training for participants of a design competition. This hybrid training, conducted before the competition, aimed to equip participants with conflict resolution skills and self-awareness to foster healthy competition and effective collaboration within interdisciplinary teams.

Goal

This collaboration aims to:

  • Help competition participants understand and manage conflicts constructively.

  • Boost participants' self-confidence through Self Love training.

  • Build a healthy, supportive, and collaborative competition environment.

  • Instill communication and teamwork skills within interdisciplinary teams.

Background of the Collaboration

ITB and Tanoto Foundation organized an interdisciplinary design competition inviting students from various academic fields to create innovative solutions to real-world societal issues. This competition is designed to nurture a young generation that is sensitive, innovative, and ready to face challenges in the VUCA (Volatile, Uncertainty, Complexity, Ambiguity) era.

In the competition process, effective collaboration and communication are key to success. However, team dynamics often present challenges, including conflicts and mental pressure. To address these, ITB and Tanoto Foundation invited PeaceGen to provide conflict resolution and self-awareness training, equipping participants to collaborate better and face challenges more positively.

Method and Approach

PeaceGen applied an interactive approach in this training using the following methods:

  • Hybrid Workshop: Participants could engage in the material either in-person or online.

  • Conflict Resolution Simulation: Participants practiced handling and resolving conflicts within teams.

  • Self-Reflection Exercises: These exercises aimed to deepen participants' understanding of Self Love and how it contributes to harmonious teamwork.

  • Group Discussions: Encouraged participants to share experiences and strategies to build better relationships within their teams.

Impact and Results

After participating in the Self Love and Konflik Bikin Epik training, the participants showed improvement in:

  • Confidence in tackling challenges during the competition.

  • The ability to resolve conflicts with a more thoughtful and constructive approach.

  • Understanding the importance of teamwork and effective communication.

  • The ability to manage emotions and pressure throughout the competition.
