SMAS Maitreyawira Deli Serdang is one of the schools implementing the 12 Basic Values of Peace (BVP) module to develop peace issues and prevent bullying. The school took the initial step to address bullying by equipping teachers and educational staff through the "Training on the 12 Basic Values of Peace" from PeaceGen, which will then be implemented for students.

Why did SMAS Maitreyawira Deli Serdang implement the "Training on the 12 Basic Values of Peace"?

The teachers, educational staff, and students at SMAS Maitreyawira Deli Serdang come from diverse backgrounds. This diversity led Chandra, the principal, to express that peace is crucial to learning and building a more harmonious school environment. 

"Peace is essential in building SMAS Maitreyawira Deli Serdang towards a better, more harmonious direction, towards the realization of one family world," said Chandra.

This diversity eventually brought SMAS Maitreyawira Deli Serdang together with PeaceGeneration Indonesia. Through an online meeting, Chandra discussed PeaceGen and the needs of SMAS Maitreyawira Deli Serdang with Ismi, a representative from PeaceGen. After discussing and learning more about PeaceGen, Ria, one of the school's administrative staff, expressed that PeaceGen provides training for teachers and educational staff that is very suitable for the needs of SMAS Maitreyawira Deli Serdang.

"Wow, this is suitable for our needs in school, for our needs as teachers. So that we can implement it for the students later," said Ria.

Based on this background, SMAS Maitreyawira Deli Serdang implemented the "Training on the 12 Basic Values of Peace" from PeaceGen to build peace in their school.

When the "Training on the 12 Basic Values of Peace" was implemented at SMAS Maitreyawira Deli Serdang. Chandra and other educational staff found three interesting things as follows:

• The training was equipped with modules on the 12 basic values of peace shared with teachers and educational staff according to their respective religions and beliefs.

• All training participants experienced experiential learning through board games.

• The training was fantastic and exciting.

After implementing the "Training on the 12 Basic Values of Peace," Ria expressed that there has been a change. 

"Today's activities make us even more acquainted with each other. So, with the stiffness during the event, everything immediately became fluid. I also see that the teachers can laugh and get to know each other; it's amazing," said Ria.

Ria also mentioned that the "Training on the 12 Basic Values of Peace" encouraged and trained teachers and educational staff to handle bullying cases, even though bullying cases had not occurred yet.
