PeaceGeneration Indonesia, represented by Annisa Fitria (Senior Learning Officer), represented Indonesia as a JISRA member in attending the Common Ground Approach to Advocacy training led by Search for Common Ground in July 2024 in New York to learn and practice advocacy skills to advocate at the HLPF effectively.

During the week-long training, Annisa Fitria engaged in discussions on developing critical local solutions, including a meeting with the Dutch mission to the UN. In addition, she attended a networking session with over 50 members of the Global Coalition for Youth Peace and Security organized by the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA). She was involved in the Multi-Faith advisory board side event, "Interfaith Collaboration as a Model for Other Sectors," with speakers representing diverse religious communities.

Annisa Fitria, a representative of PeaceGeneration Indonesia, also attended the JISRA side event with the theme "Bridging Divides and Building Peace—Youth, FoRB and the SDGs," which provided a platform for youth dialogue on FoRB and SDGs to promote a peaceful and inclusive society. This side event shared the experiences, challenges, and opportunities of youth from different religious, cultural, and geographical backgrounds.

Annisa Fitria shared success stories of young people in Indonesia who have benefited from PeaceGeneration Indonesia's efforts to teach peace with the 12 Basic Values of Peace curriculum taught to support people to become AoPs (Agents of Peace) and spread the values in their communities.

Annisa Fitria said that PeaceGeneration Indonesia uses creative media such as board games and podcasts that can reach young people wherever they are and can increase accessibility. She also emphasized the importance of collaboration and localization and the need to advocate for the government to provide education from its roots.

JISRA's youth advocacy mission at the HLPF provides a vital step for youth in global peace and development efforts by empowering and supporting young leaders and the global community to progress in achieving the SDGs and building a more just and peaceful world.
